A Golden Summit day on Mount Emei is a chain of timed connections, not a simple cable-car ride. In 2026, high-mountain sightseeing buses require a reserved time slot, while construction at Leidongping and cableway upgrades reduce capacity. Book the mountain ticket and transport together.

Book the dated, timed components
Since 10 March 2026, buses toward Leidongping/Golden Summit operate by hourly reservation slots. Book through the official Mount Emei WeChat account or official tourism platform and use the same passport at pre-check. Tickets can be reserved up to 15 days ahead; early arrival does not permit early pre-check.
Since 23 May 2026, Golden Summit entry has been capped at 8,000 tickets per day during works expected to continue into 2027. The original Leidongping station facilities are closed during construction, and waiting areas and dispatch times can change. Check the official notice the evening before travel.
The one-day sequence
- Reach the assigned departure point with the original passport and reservation.
- Take the high-mountain sightseeing bus to the temporary Leidongping area.
- Walk uphill toward Jieyin Hall; elevation, stairs and winter ice make this slower than the map suggests.
- Use the Golden Summit cableway if booked and operating, then continue to the summit precinct.
- Start the return early enough for queues, the walk back and your reserved transport.
Costs to budget
The official 2026 fee directory lists peak-season admission at CNY 160 and low-season admission at CNY 110. It lists peak Golden Summit cableway fares of CNY 65 up and CNY 55 down, with lower low-season rates; sightseeing-bus fares vary by route. Treat these as checked official rates, but verify the exact bundled product and construction-period availability before payment.
Weather and clothing
The summit can be cold, wet or foggy while the foothills are warm. Carry a waterproof outer layer, insulation, sun protection and shoes with grip. A cloud sea, sunrise or “Buddha’s light” is never guaranteed. Do not arrange a dangerous early start solely for a forecast photo.
Food, monkeys and safety
Carry water and a small meal, but keep food sealed around macaques. Do not feed, tease or display plastic bags of food; follow staff instructions. Stay on opened paths, respect temple spaces and leave extra time for altitude, crowds and slippery steps.
Where to sleep
Emeishan city or the Baoguo Temple area suits an early bus start. Summit lodging can support sunrise plans but is limited and does not remove weather risk.
