Beijing Daxing Airport (PKX) to Central Beijing: Airport Express, Bus and Taxi Guide

Beijing has two major commercial airports. The first practical decision is not “How do I get from the Beijing airport to my hotel?” It is: does my ticket say PKX or PEK? PKX is Beijing Daxing International Airport; PEK is Beijing Capital International Airport. They have different rail lines, bus networks and road-transfer plans. This guide is for PKX only.

“Central Beijing” is not a single arrival point. A hotel near Wangfujing, a railway departure from Beijing West, an address by the Line 10 loop, and a late-night stay near Beijing Station can call for different choices. Save your hotel’s Chinese name, full address and a map pin before leaving the terminal.

Choose your route before you leave arrivals

PKX versus PEK: do not follow the wrong airport guide

Check the three-letter airport code on your booking, boarding pass and airline app. A search for “Beijing airport transfer” can easily return instructions for PEK, even when your flight lands at PKX. That can lead to the wrong metro line, bus terminal or pickup location.

If you have a same-day transfer between PKX and PEK, treat it as a separate inter-airport journey rather than a quick city-centre connection. Confirm the airline’s current transfer instructions and leave generous contingency time; do not build a non-refundable attraction, rail departure or international check-in around an assumed transfer time.

Option 1: Daxing Airport Line for a planned metro arrival

The Daxing Airport Line station is on B1 of the terminal. It runs between Daxing Airport and Caoqiao, where you can connect with Beijing Subway Lines 10 and 19. The current published airport-station departure window is 06:00–23:00; always recheck the operator’s schedule shortly before travel, especially after a delayed flight.

Under the operator’s 2026 fare rules, ordinary-carriage pricing is distance-based: CNY 10 within 20 km, CNY 25 for 20–30 km and CNY 35 beyond 30 km. The business carriage has a CNY 50 single fare. Your city-metro portion is a separate planning consideration, so look at the complete door-to-door journey rather than comparing only the airport-line fare.

This is the best option when your destination is genuinely close to a useful Line 10 or Line 19 stop. It is less attractive when the route still leaves you with a long walk, two awkward interchanges or a late-night hotel arrival. Option 2: airport bus for a direct central-city corridor or late arrival

Daxing Airport’s August 2026 network update reports nine city-bus lines. The Beijing Station direction operates around the clock, while the network also includes daytime and night routes that serve particular city areas. This makes airport bus a useful option for some late arrivals, but only after you confirm that the current route actually takes you near your accommodation.

Buy through the official Airport Bus mini-program or the airport ticket window, and use the displayed stop and timetable as the final authority. The operator can change route frequency and stops with passenger demand. Do not choose a hotel solely because an old online post says its airport-bus stop is nearby.

Option 3: national rail only when it matches your actual next stop

Daxing Airport also has a national-rail station. This can be useful for a specifically matched onward journey, but it is not automatically the best way to reach every part of central Beijing. Search your exact date and stations on 12306, then compare the arrival station against your hotel or onward ticket before committing.

A station with “Beijing” in its name is not necessarily the station you need. Read the full station name on both your rail booking and hotel plan, and leave enough time for the journey from that station to your actual accommodation. Option 4: taxi or ride-hailing when the last mile matters more than the rail map

For a family, a traveller arriving with several bags, or anyone staying far from a practical station, a taxi can be the more useful choice even when rail looks cheaper on paper. Follow signs for the official taxi queue and use only the designated pickup procedure for ride-hailing. Do not accept an unsolicited ride offer inside or just outside the terminal.

Before you enter the vehicle, make sure the driver-facing destination is the hotel’s full Chinese address rather than only an English hotel name. Keep the booking confirmation, hotel telephone number and map pin available offline. Foreign-passport and payment checklist

• Bring your passport for airline and hotel formalities; it is not itself a metro ticket.
• Beijing’s rail system, including both airport express lines, supports contactless payment with qualifying overseas-issued cards. Carry a second payment method in case your particular card or phone-wallet setup does not work.
• A BEIJING PASS is another practical backup. The official foreign-visitor guidance says a passport is needed to buy one.
• Keep enough battery, data access and a screenshot of the hotel address for the final leg of the trip.
• If mobility support is needed, check the current station accessibility information before departure rather than assuming every interchange is equally easy with luggage.

Build your arrival day around the ground transfer

A sensible PKX arrival day has one fixed commitment: getting to the hotel. Do not add a timed attraction, an intercity rail connection and a non-refundable dinner reservation until you know the complete route from the arrivals hall to your accommodation.
